Officially 41 weeks:

Symptoms: Cramping, constant peeing, some contractions

Weight: Still the same. :) Thursday: I started this day talking to our primary doula about planning for my appointment tomorrow and discussing induction possibilities. We also talked about what days she would be available and won’t be as I am really hoping she will be available whenever Patrick decides to come (nothing against our backup we just meshed so well with our primary at the interview). She really helped me relax and talk about other things that I realized I miss quite a bit.

I finally finished my HP puzzle today too! I know it sounds funny but I am really good at puzzles but this puzzle consisted so much of purple, black, and other very similar colors together that it was a bit more difficult. Now of course I will have to figure out what I am doing next to busy my time.

Friday:

OB Appointment: Today we met with our OB. Typical rundown first… I went in and had no weight gain (so we are sticking with 20lbs gained this pregnancy), my blood pressure was great at 120/70, and my urine analysis again came back normal (they check it every week for proteins and such to make sure I don’t develop pre-eclampsia). Baby Patrick was also checked and he is doing perfect (seriously he is going to be the best little guy) his measurements are still the same (weight 2 weeks ahead, length right on track) and 157bpm today. My OB did a cervical exam and said again the same information as last week (which was kind of hard to hear, I was like really nothing?!). So then she said she wanted to induce...TODAY!?! What? NO NO NO I am not ready. Our primary doula isn’t here until tomorrow night, our photographer is gone until Sunday, this is not happening?! We talked about it though and about what would be safest and best for Patrick and she said tonight is what would be best. She then told me the most convincing thing it took...Monday night would be a male doctor instead….OK! DEAL! So, she had us finish our appointment and figure out when to bring me in. We had a NST (Non-Stress Test) done for 20 minutes and I thought it was so funny. She came back in to read it and goes, “Dang your baby” I was like what?! “He is just doing so perfect!” Haha yep, that’s my son….we are all or nothing people. Heehee. She then explained that we would go in for a natural gentle induction (natural because no medications will be used...i.e. Pitocin or an epidural) at 8pm tonight.

So...Tomek took the rest of the day off work, took me out to breakfast (Lincoln Square...YUM), we cuddled and rested (I even managed a nap!), had intimate time (just us but I wanted to before having to wait a long time for healing as we both enjoy that kind of closeness as well!), and ate a nice dinner before we had to go in for our appointment. She didn’t do a membrane sweep or anything in the office but after the cervical exam I did actually have contractions. I had 2 while I was connected to the NST and the nurse and her noticed and said oh see there’s a contractions. I laughed and was like wait that’s what they feel like….yeah I have had a lot more of those for like a week or two. Haha. Apparently a downside of a high pain tolerance is really not knowing you are having contractions and not just general discomfort from baby moving (as I thought I was having).
