38 Weeks:
Symptoms: The right side of my body just keeps hurting, I am still constantly peeing, fatigue/tired/exhausted (I seriously would do so very little and then be super drained again), general muscle pains, inability to get comfortable sitting on the couch anymore so spending more of my time on the bed where I can get comfy and move around more, I keep getting nauseous and not really knowing why or how to take care of it but I am almost done with it!
Weight: This week I am at 19 lbs gained from my pre-pregnancy weight. Obviously I will be hitting the big 20 before my little guy comes but my OB keeps telling me that I am at a great weight gain and not to worry about it at all! So I just keep reminding myself of that as weight and self-image are things I struggle with quite a bit outside of pregnancy.
Tomek’s Prediction: Well we made it past Tomek’s day that he thought Patrick was going to come...I was really hoping he was wrong. I am still hoping that Patrick will be born in September...even if it is just the 1st. Heehee. So we are just at the point where we are waiting, where we truly aren’t sure when he will arrive, but I think symptoms wise (Braxton Hicks contractions occur some but nothing regular or causing dilation) our little guy is holding out for closer to his due date….which I am okay with. :) I will also throw out there that one of his relatives birthday’s was on the 28th and my MIL just thought it would be so funny for my son to share a bday with that relative (since that relative, whom I do love, also drives me crazy!) but thankfully that day too has passed. We are so close to hitting September which is truly my goal but now that the 28th passed at least I am one step closer. Nonetheless he will be coming soon which is still hard for us to wrap our minds around at times.
OB Appointment: We also started this week with another OB appointment. Just a regular weekly check-up again…. Patrick heartbeat was 146 and still measuring length wise right on track. My Blood Pressure was great 122/76 and weight came in at the same as last week though above I say I gained 1lb because the appointments were off track. She again said we are doing great and we are truly just waiting for the day he is ready to arrive (We are so close to making Sept. and I can’t wait as then I am happy for him to come anytime...just hoping to make it through August!).
Work Picnic: Over the weekend hubby and I went to his work picnic. I made so much banana bread to go there, because I wasn’t sure how many people would be there. Unfortunately, it was so hot that many left early but we had a great time. I felt really guilty at first because Tomek decided we would take Ruby with us, and Maggie just is too nervous around people to take her out. So Maggie got left at home by herself, so to feel better (me not her) I gave her a special bone, new toy, and a new bandana to wear all while we were gone. Heehee. Ruby was very good at the park. She was wonderful with kids playing with her, petting her, and even pulling at her. She just laid down next to me sitting for most of the time too. I had a great time connecting with some of the other wives and girlfriends of the guys as well. We did take note and think maybe next year if they have family events we will aim for fall season so it isn’t so hot. It was quite hot at the park. I think I downed so many bottles of water it was crazy. I had a few braxton hicks contractions just needing more water but otherwise I did quite well. Tomek enjoyed having some time with guys who attended as well. And as always Tomek went above and beyond to make sure I was okay, hydrated, and honestly surviving the heat the entire time! He truly is the best husband I could have ever possibly been blessed with!
Unfortunately after getting so warm and sweating I ended up getting a heat rash. So trying to keep cold compress on it and air is all I can do. It is so uncomfortable and itchy it is definitely not the best part of my pregnancy week for me and also isn’t going away quickly.
National Dog Day: Since National dog day is this week I figured I would share an update on these two cuties. Maggie and Ruby are both doing so well together. We survived the 2 months of sickness & antibiotics (first Ruby then passed to Maggie), Ruby getting spayed, more meds for Ruby, and her (Ruby again) even causing more care by biting at the paw they had shaved. Thankfully both dogs are happy and healthy and the best of friends. Tomek caught them at night sleeping like this….
They each have their own beds making it that much cuter that they decided to share. During the day they wrestle and play anywhere and everywhere and just have so much fun I am so thankful to have them!
Polish Night: We had a wonderful dinner one night pulling out our pierogi! Every year we do a family assembly line of pierogi making for Christmas and we freeze some to have during the year. This year we forgot about ours until this past month so we are enjoying them now. I had some amazing potato pierogi and Tomek was excited to heat up his leftover Christmas Mushroom soup that he also had frozen. It was truly a Polish night that made me just reminiscence about dziadzio (Tomek’s gpa) and how happy he would be to see us now, in his home (he left it to us) celebrating the Polish heritage he has always shared and been so proud of. I can’t wait for us to share this heritage as well as my Irish heritage with our little Patrick as he grows up too!
Odd Pregnancy Experiences: So I always wanted to make sure this blog was very forward in telling all the things that I experience that sometimes are odd so here are what I can remember (seriously pregnancy brain is real!) that have affected me. Lightning crotch (sharp or shooting pain in the vagina, rectum, or pelvis) in the vaginal area, a pulled muscle between my vagina and thigh that caused an inability to walk at times, and the more recent one a HUGE love for washing my skin. I love feeling the soap rinsing off of me, whether it be in the shower or while washing dishes (yep, I keep up with dishes now heehee).
Labor symptoms: Braxton Hicks contractions a few times (more than last week) that disappear pretty quickly/easily and are not measurable within any pattern let alone the 5-1-1 pattern suggested. So again really no symptoms for labor yet, YAY!! We are so close to September!!
