21 Weeks:
Symptoms: Heartburn, Nausea (really only a couple times), Tired/Fatigue, Dry Skin (hands only really), Constant need to pee, backache, self-image struggle.
Weight: So I forgot to weigh in last week but I can tell you in the past 2 weeks (I don’t know the level of gain between the two though) I have gained 2 lbs. This means I am now 2 lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight. I will admit I think when I was in the negatives I was a little less worried and not thinking about it but with being 2 pounds over I am even more self-conscious of my weight and worried about gaining too much weight throughout this pregnancy, especially since the foods I keep down and don’t get sick from the most are mashed potatoes (yep still a go to craving), mac and cheese, bread, and green beans (the only healthy thing there!). Tomek is very reassuring that I am supposed to gain weight, my body will change, etc. But having to go search out a maternity swimsuit, which was $40 (Are you kidding me!? Unfortunately, no), that will look “cute” on me along with a dress for my baby shower is such a long process that I am still worried about how they will look on me, especially in another 10 weeks. UGH. I guess the pregnancy glow thing isn’t a myth, it is just something everyone else sees and tells me about me while I feel the opposite way!
Is Time Flying: Wow! I started this week off kind of realizing that since we have passed the halfway point of pregnancy and found out that we are having a little boy the next big thing is just labor and delivery…..again WOW! I am excited but also already a little saddened that it is going by so fast. I still feel this throughout this week at different times, I got pretty emotional at one point realizing that I love my baby and can’t wait to see him but also love protecting him inside of me and I am getting closer and closer to losing that.
Saturday morning came and I was getting ready for my cousin’s baby shower. I get a text from my friend and long story short she had this event she was supposed to be attending with someone and they bailed so she didn’t really want to go alone. I said I would go with her and so then she explained it was a black tie gala...I accepted with this picture….

So to say we had a busy Saturday planned might be an understatement but I was so excited for it!
We started the afternoon going out to see my cousin for her baby shower. We had such a great time helping setup, playing some games, and seeing everyone.

Unfortunately we couldn’t stay the whole time but I got some hugs in with B, pictures with family, gifts were shared and then Tomek and I hurried driving back home for my next engagement with my friend Carly.
However, I am so glad that they convinced me to change my dress. I was wearing a very spring-y dress but this black tie event was way too fancy for that. However, I only had 2 maternity dresses and so I wore the 1 I was planning on wearing for my baby shower in July instead. We had such a great time at this event.

It was the Mira Awards Gala 2018. They basically describe it as the “Oscars of the Technology World.” It was so great and I was happy to be my friend’s plus one! Over 1300 people in attendance, and my friend Carly’s work was nominated for 3 different awards. A nomination in itself is amazing, so definitely congratulations to Viral Launch for all of your nominations! I also saw some people I know there and got to really enjoy myself, even though I felt like I stood out so much compared to all the black dresses and black suits/tuxes.

Hiccups: It was like it was meant to be for me to experience another “high” moment this week. On 4/30 I woke up and took my shower to get ready for work. Then when I was all ready, too early, I sat on the couch and all of a sudden I felt little Patrick kick….again...again...wait a second?! Then I realized what was happening...Patrick had hiccups inside my womb! AWWW I can’t say how exciting this was for me, just sitting there for 3 minutes straight and feeling our little baby boy!
This week I also created my birth plan with Tomek’s help. I will share a separate post with the birth plan I created. (Note: This may not be what we use in the end but it was our 1st rough draft).
