16 Weeks:

Craving of the week: Broccoli! Why broccoli? I don’t know but I will say it was so glorious!! Our joke is that hopefully because I WANTED broccoli our little one will actually like it and we won’t have to fight them to eat it, we shall see right, heehee.

Symptoms: I still keep randomly experiencing morning sickness, more often than not. But the main symptoms this week are my head and back aches. And my weight hasn’t changed since previously reported.

Great Husband: I felt really sick one day and my husband, have I mentioned how amazing he really is, takes such great care of me and our future baby! I really wanted chicken and dumplings but didn’t feel like cooking, (seriously it is so hard to want to cook when pregnant and sick), so on his way home from work he stopped and got me chicken and dumplings from Cracker Barrel along with mashed potatoes, corn, and to top it off a bottle of Butterbeer (non-alcoholic Harry Potter themed drink, YUM!).

Pregnancy Brain: Oh boy, this week pregnancy brain hit me hard! I have had occasional moments before but this week took its toll on me. I had one day that truly was a day of all days, I was so ready for it to be over. I started the day with the power company turning the power off in the neighborhood to trim trees, for 4 hours. So I couldn’t shower or use anything, though it didn’t stop me from trying to use my microwave, so silly! Then I left for the store to buy groceries and everything went swell until I got back to my car. I put my keys in the ignition first and turned it on (which I don’t normally do), shut the driver door, loaded all my groceries in the back seat and shut it. Unfortunately, when I went to open my driver door again the entire car was locked. I was stuck. The car had the radio rocking out to my “The Greatest Showman” soundtrack (I highly recommend by the way) and running so I couldn’t even leave. Thankfully I called my husband’s parents and they were able to drive out together, one stay with the car, and the other drive me home and back to my car after getting my spare car keys from my home (Thankfully I could remember where those were put in the new home). Then I got home and managed to forget stuff in the car, and put stuff away in the wrong places multiple times (It managed to take me double the time to get stuff done).

It made me stop and think about my husband’s grandfather (we called him dziadzio which was Polish for grandpa). Dziadzio had a lot of memory issues in the end due to Alzheimer’s and I only knew him for 5 years but he changed so much in me in those 5 years! When I started walking in rooms and not remembering why I was there I thought about all the chats he had with me about how he hated experiencing the same thing. I remember always telling him that he was okay but after experiencing these brief moments like he did all the time I understand and even get frustrated with myself.

Hit & Run #2!!: Seriously? Yep. This just happened...again My mother-in-law (MIL) was driving me to work because it had snowed overnight and Tomek had warned me about the roads (especially intersections) being a little slick. So I asked her to drive me. We were heading to my work when at an intersection our light turned green, and we slowly started to go through the light. Unfortunately, a truck kept going through the intersection crossing us and even with us trying to move more to the right they hit the front left of the driver side. We stopped in a lot that was right at the light and watched the guy driving the truck continue to swerve around, we assumed once he gained control he would come over to the lot as well. Instead he drove off. The van was fine (dented, blue paint swapped on to our van, but we were both okay. Except for some built up pregnancy rage I would say. I was so frustrated that this was the 2nd time this had happened to me AND honestly people just can’t get away with hitting your vehicle (even if everything turns out okay).

So, without thinking or even talking to my MIL I called 911. Honestly I was surprised about how quickly they responded and everything worked out. They filed a report and said they would check the general area. We were just about to leave to take me to work from the lot when they called asking if we could go to a location where they thought they found the truck, and it was it! The older man had only drove his truck half a mile or so (maybe a little less) from where he hit us to an apartment building where he lived and went inside. So, in the end we got the guy (who was later arrested due to driving without a license, driving without insurance, and fleeing the scene of an accident) and his truck was towed. All in all it was an eventful experience to say the least. I have been a little on edge since then as it is concerning to realize I have been pregnant for 16 weeks and between weeks 8 and 16 I have now had this happen twice! But I am being cautious and baby is okay!

OB Appointment & Harry Potter Share: We have to end this week on a better note so let me share a happy moment with my baby bump this week. One day, about midweek, I decided to wear Harry Potter leggings when I had my OB checkup. I did get a little annoyed when I was stuck waiting there for about 40 minutes and only seen for 5 minutes. But we heard little baby’s heartbeat (154 bpm) and even heard lots of swooshing noises, the OB said that means the baby is flipping around and moving a lot, which is good! Then when I got home I realized this was the first time I wore one of my Harry Potter clothing items. And knowing that now my baby can hear my voice and will recognize it as their mommy I decided to sit and talk to my little one about Harry Potter, my love for it, and how they too will one day read all the books and watch all the movies! :) and I took this picture. So I hope you enjoy...
